Kirklands Dupe #1 // disc wall art
I recently moved into a new home and my stucco wall on the back patio was looking a little bare. I saw this set of 3 discs from Kirkland’s and thought it would dress up the wall nicely. These were $150, but guess how much we’ll paying - $1!!!!
I spray painted these stovetop covers from Dollar Tree to give it a nice white base and then got to painting. It only came with 2, so for the third, a jar lid will work nicely.
This sponge brush gave these discs a nice wood looking finish. It was really easy to match the Kirkland’s inspiration by just adding different shades of browns and keeping the brush strokes going in the same direction.
how to transfer an image with wax paper
Now I’m going to show you how to transfer an image using wax paper and an ink jet printer.
I started by recreating the pattern in Adobe Illustrator. I made the lines thin because I just wanted to be able to trace this pattern with white paint.
Then I taped a piece of wax paper to a regular piece of paper. You definitely want to make sure those edges are secure or else it will jam your printer.
You will want to quickly do the transfer while the ink is still wet. Push down hard with the edge of a credit card or if you have a little handy dandy rolling pin like I do here, it makes the process even easier.
You will want to add a clear coat after this, so that the white does not get muddy with the ink.
Here is my version next to the Kirkland’s version. What do you think? Pretty close to the original right?! Keep reading to the end to see how these ended up looking on my stucco wall on the patio.

Kirklands Dupe #2 // terracotta candle holders
Let’s move on to the second Kirkland’s dupe. I loved these candle holders and they kind of go with that aztec pattern we have on the faux wood discs. These are regularly $25. You can find terracotta pots at Dollar Tree, but my Dollar Tree only had broken ones, so I had to pick these up at Lowes. And, wow, was Lowes busy on a weekend. And no one was standing 6 feet apart in line either…grrr.
I cleaned off the pots with some water just to get any dust and dirt off of them.
Then I masked off the areas to create triangles.
A couple coats of white paint and then I let them dry for a bit. If these will be exposed to the elements, you may want to put a clear coat on top to seal in that paint.
Look how crisp those little triangles came out. This otherwise plain terracotta pot now has a cute boho vibe with very little effort.
Dollar Tree DIY // flower sign
I had bought some flowers to cheer up the back patio, so I thought making some flower signs would be really cute to dress up the area a little more.
I started by cutting up some foam core from Dollar Tree and wrapped it in this contact paper that I also found at Dollar Tree.
I placed some stickers on top and wrote the flower names on the sticker. I taped a wooden skewer to the back. These skewers came in a pack of 100 from Dollar Tree.
I thought it might be nice to have the flower care details, so I also attached those to the back of the signs. I always forget how much I am supposed to water them about a month later!
Last step is to tie it up with a bow.
the finished patio
Here are my little projects outside. For under $10, this is way better than it looked before!
