How to Decorate a Tiered Tray for Summer
Today I have some Target dollar spot crafts and Dollar Tree coastal transformations. We’ll be putting together tiered tray miniatures to decorate our little coastal vignette.
I created the video below, in case you like to watch rather than read. And if you’re here for the FREE PRINTABLES, then fill out the form below.

These wooden star items were a recent find and came in a set of three for only 3 dollars. I think we can give all these wooden items a beachy update.
For the tray, we’ll be using one I found at Dollar Tree. You already saw this unboxing and makeover in my lemonized kitchen post, but now we’re making it over for a second time.
I tried to pick out some florals that had a beachy vibe. I think anything tropical or that looks kind of like a succulent works well. I thought of beachgrass and found some sprigs that hint at that. We’ll want to cover any empty spots with the filler florals, so it looks nice and full and festive for Summer.
I’ll be putting this tiered tray in my “Hamptons” themed guest bedroom. I had done a whole makeover on that awhile back.
Right now the tiered tray is a satin off-white color, but for a beachy look, I think of driftwood, so I mixed some brownish paint with white but that can sometimes come off looking a little pink, so I added a bit of gold to offset that and also a bit of black to deepen the color.
The texture is subtle…just the way I like it. But I think making this small change was worth the effort since now it has a more rustic, costal vibe.
I painted most of the items in our set in that driftwood shade. For the star frame, I decided to leave the edge bright white.
I painted this small crate sign in a bright white chalk paint because I wanted a little differentiation between the items, so they aren’t all driftwood colored. I found this in the craft section at Dollar Tree.
I hand trimmed all the printables out and they aren’t perfect, but they are small (especially the anchor), so you don’t notice any rough edges at all.
I decided to use double stick tape on the star sign because I may want to make it over again for another season.
I had these light blue dome stickers from Dollar Tree and they match so nicely with the sign. They stick down really easily on that wooden edge and you don’t even notice where the glue is.
Here are the rest of the coastal miniatures.
Let’s see how the tiered tray turned out! I think it is so fun for my coastal bedroom and really cheers up the space. There are so many little items on there, I think guests staying in this room will really have fun looking at all the effort that went into this vignette.
