How to Make a Tiered Tray Step By Step
Want to see how to make a tiered tray from start to finish? We’re going to create a tiered tray for Spring and this is a Dollar Tree DIY, which makes it super budget friendly.
I’ll share how to style a tiered tray and we’ll make all the signs for the tiered tray too. Everything you need to make this is under $20, including all the decorations!
As always, I made a video just for you! If you want to see this tiered tray come to life, check out the video below.

For the top tier of this 2 tier tray, we’re going to use this pan from Dollar Tree. It had a little sticky residue on it so I pulled out my trusty home made goo-be-gone.
This is just made with 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and 3 tablespoons baking soda. I keep it in a storage container and it has lasted quite awhile and works so well to get that annoying sticker residue off.
You just rub it on the goo and then wipe with a damp paper towel and it comes out nice and clean.
I gave the pan a coat of white spray paint so it would have a nice base for our hand painting.
I’m trying to match the charger I had already made in a previous tutorial, so I’m making sure the color is as close as possible.
I added some rounded stickers from Dollar Tree and also added some leaves on the side.
I had created this charger for Fall, but I think the colors and the leaves work so well for Spring that I wanted to repurpose one of the chargers for this tiered tray.
I’m going to use a combo of E6000 and hot glue to stick a Dollar Tree glass vase that I painted white to the top of the charger. Then I adhered the top tray in the same way. You’ll want to let that E6000 dry overnight before putting anything heavy on top.

Now we’re going to put together a few little things to decorate our tiered tray. I found this wooden birdhouse and these terracotta pots at Dollar Tree.
I saw these wooden signs in the Target dollar spot and they are only $1 each. I only ended up using two of them but I liked the colors on the sides of these. The white, sage green and greige are a great combo, so that’s what I’m going to mix up for painting that birdhouse and the pots.
I painted the birdhouse with the sage green and then did the roof white and the perch and base
I did paint a little on the inside of the pots so in case a flower was pushed to the side you won’t see any of the original orange.
Now if you wanted to use real flowers, I would suggest using some of this waterproof Mod Podge after the paint dries.
On the greige pot, I added some ribbon I found at Dollar Tree.
On the sage green pot, I used a little twine and then painted some of those domed stickers from Dollar Tree with some white paint and glued them around the top of the pot.
I finished up with some white florals in those two pots.
I had these eggs and bunnies from Michael’s that I picked up several years ago. I picked out the colors of the eggs that match our color scheme.
I was just at the Target dollar spot the other day picking up those small wooden signs and they had bunnies almost identical to these and they also had eggs almost just like these, but I don’t think they were speckled. So, you can find all the decor for this tiered tray right at the Target dollar spot for just a few dollars.
// How to Style a Tiered Tray
Ok, now for the fun part, styling our new tiered tray!
I cleaned my table in the dinette area and layed down a table runner. I got this one at Target a few months ago, around Thanksgiving.
I gathered all my decorations and arranged everything until I was happy with the final look. I didn’t use everything because you don’t want to overcrowd the tray, but you do want it to have a full look. Try to alternate heights of objects as you go along.
And here is the final look. I love the lambs ear, it is such a soft touch and the sage green, greige and whites all look so elegant together.
Here was the total cost for the items that we had to buy (other than paints and paintbrushes).

How about some Target Dollar Spot crafts and Dollar Tree coastal transformations. We’ll be putting together tiered tray miniatures to decorate our little coastal vignette.
