DIY Dollar Tree Red White and Blue Decor Ideas You Can Make
I have some super easy red, white and blue DIYs. These are budget friendly Dollar Tree DIYs. You may even have some of these things sitting around your house to make them even cheaper. I created a video below, so if you would rather watch than read, check it out.
// Garland option #1
First, I want to share a couple different ways to do fourth of July garland. For this first one, we are going to use these red and blue plastic cups from Dollar Tree.
I started by cutting these at an angle.
Then I trimmed off the edge that had the lip of the cup.
I added a hole punch and put these on the twine and decorated with some of this patriotic ribbon I already had.
This was so easy and super cute!
// Garland option #2
For the second garland, I used some denim scraps and white felt that I found at Dollar Tree. I cut the fabric into little flags.
Then I decorated with these oil based Sharpie markers. Let them dry really well, so you don’t stain anything.
Oil based paint is really hard to get off surfaces and your fingers. So, in instances like this where I don’t take my own advice, I used this all natural nail polish remover to get it off my brand new craft mat. This all natural stuff is way better than using something stronger.
I marked some twine, so I knew the flags would be spaced out evenly.
Then I just folded them over and sealed with a strip of hot glue.
I found these foam wands at Dollar Tree and used the blue and red ribbons to finish off this second garland.
These garlands look great on the fireplace, or could decorate a table or backsplash in the kitchen. wherever you want to celebrate a little American cheer in your home.
// red, white and blue coasters
If you’re decorating for a small Fourth of July gathering, I thought it might be fun to have some patriotic coasters. I got these pom-poms on Amazon, but I did see smaller bags of these at Dollar Tree. I started by separating the red, white and blue ones out.
Dollar Tree had cork, which you could cut into squares or circles, but I had some old coasters that I decided to use for this project. I added the hot glue a little at a time, so I had time to attach the pom-poms before the glue dried.
I think these came out so cute and are super fun for Summer!
// red, white and blue candle display
The next two 4th of July ideas have to do with food, but you won’t want to eat this one! You will need a box or bag of rice, some food coloring and a vase or jar. I divided the rice evenly into 3 sections. Then I placed the rice in a ziplock bag, added the food color and shook it around until it distributed evenly onto the rice.
I placed this in layers into a glass vase and then added a candle on top. Another option would be to put a smaller vase in the middle and then you could add flowers and only the blooms at the top would show. This would be an awesome centerpiece for a patriotic meal!
// cupcake idea
I colored 1/3 of the batter blue and another third red. I layered the 3 colors of batter in the cupcake liners.
Then I used the Twizzlers as little firecrackers in the middle of the icing. I placed some of the cupcakes inside those little hats and here we have a cute Fourth of July setup to show off those yummy cupcakes.
